DARE, the new single from animated super group Gorillaz, is coming up and will be released by Parlophone on 29th August.

The second single to be taken from their No. 1 album Demon Days, DARE is an inspired combination of booming bass, unique vocal hooks and catchy synth squiggles.

The accompanying video features a starring performance from the track's guest vocalist, Shaun Ryder. Set in Noodle's bedroom, deep within the bowels of the band's lair Kong Studios, the promo sees Shaun and Gorillaz' guitarist Noodle lost in a world of their own. Developed once again by the award-winning team of Jamie Hewlett and Passion Picture's Pete Candeland, it's a an extraordinary glimpse into the home life of the band.

The video also features the Noodle dance routine, coming soon to a dancefloor near you.

DARE will be released on 2 CD formats and DVD. Bsides include a live version of smash hit Clint Eastwood recorded at Sarm Studios last month and featuring the vocal talents of and new lyrics from De La Soul and the Pharcyde's Bootie Brown. Also included are 3 exclusive new tracks; Highway (Under Construction), People and Samba at 13. The full tracklisting is as follows:

CD1 - DARE / Clint Eastwood (live) - feat. De La Soul and Bootie Brown
CD2 - DARE / Highway (Under Construction) / Dare Soulwax Remix
DVD - DARE (Video) / DARE Animatic / People / Samba at 13

GORILLAZ have let slip to NME.COM that their new album will be called ‘DEMON DAYS’.

The follow-up to 2001’s self-titled debut is set for release in May and was recorded at the group’s own Kong Studios in Essex.

Drummer Russell Hobbs told NME.COM: “We've noticed that some people have picked up on 'Reject False Icons' as being the new Gorillaz album title. This was actually more like the motto we used while we were working on the tracks to keep us fresh.”

He added: “The album title now is 'Demon Days'. We've pretty well finished. Noodle and Dangermouse are just trimming the last bits of the back and then this cut should be razor sharp. I guess we're looking at a May date for this thing to drop.”

Gorillaz Pick Up A Mouse For Next Album

28/09/2004

So what does an animated hip-hop supergroup with a platinum-selling debut do for an encore? If you're Damon Albarn of Blur, who conceived the virtual group the Gorillaz, you make wholesale changes to the lineup, naturally.

Albarn, who collaborated with beatmaking producer Dan the Automator on the Gorillaz's 2001 self-titled debut album, has found a new production partner for the group's upcoming sophomore record: Danger Mouse, the DJ behind the Jay-Z and Beatles mash-up, The Grey Album.

Currently, both Albarn and Danger Mouse are in England co-producing the next Gorillaz album, which is slated to be released in the spring. Like the first studio set, the next LP is expected to feature a diverse collection of guest vocalists and MCs. The only confirmed guests thus far are De La Soul, according to Danger Mouse, who said that he and Albarn were still unsure of what tracks were going to make the final cut.

"We're pretty deep into it," he said of the project. "We're both very excited about what's happening musically and I think it'll surprise a lot of people. But I don't really want to describe a sound for people to expect."

The Gorillaz album will once again include a visual component, but it wasn't clear if the same artist, Jamie Hewlett, creator of the "Tank Girl" comics, would be handling those duties this time around.
